Early Childhood Support

Are you interested in getting your students outdoors more this year? Are you curious as to how you can better utilize your existing outdoor space? Are you looking for new fresh ideas for engaging experiences for the children in your class?

We are here to support you!

Trying something NEW or “outside of the Box” can be quite an adventure. We know - we’ve been down that road. The good thing is, you don’t have to take this journey alone!

Whether you are looking to start a new nature school or you are currently a part of an early care program, maintaining your vision, implementing new practices, or keeping up with the latest research can all feel very overwhelming. Working with others can be so vital in navigating your path to a successful & joyful learning environment.

It has taken Unplugged Adventures more than six years to get to where we are today. Even with all the quality resources we have utilized, we still feel like this is an ever-changing journey, with new roads to travel and exciting people to meet.

If you are looking for a little guidance, answers to burning questions, or encouragement to keep you on track - we are here for you! And believe it or not, there are others out there just like you.

Workshops

Nature Play

  • Our Nature Play Workshop borrows inspiration from TimberNook, an innovative outdoor play program founded by author & occupational therapist, Angela Hanscom. We also draw from our own experiences with open ended outdoor play. Parents and educators will leave feeling empowered and inspired. Some key topics may include: the importance of nature play, understanding risky play, nature’s benefits on childhood development and staging inspiring environments.

Nature Play Workshops are in-person and therefore only scheduled based on availability. For more information on booking a workshop for your center, school or group, please contact Christa Thomas via the link below.

Let’s Play Workshop 2023

  • November 4 | 9M-4PM

UPDATE: this workshop is being rescheduled. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Whether you are a nature educator or an experienced ECE professional or just toying around with ideas for change, we invite you (and your co-workers) to join us at Unplugged for a full day of learning, sharing resources, building community & of course PLAYING in the great outdoors. We have a new format this year that you are guaranteed to love!

Loose Parts Play

  • Loose parts can be defined as any open-ended material, natural or manufactured, that can be moved and manipulated by children to create.

Why use loose parts in your classroom or on the playground? These materials allow children to tap into their natural curiosities, participate in meaningful inquiry-based learning experiences and be creative. In this workshop, your team can gain a deeper understanding of the inquiry process, see and experience real examples of loose parts & how they can be used across multiple ages.

This is an “in-person” workshop. For more information on booking this workshop for your center, school or group, please contact Christa Thomas via the link below.
